I don't know that there's a way to remove the shipping after they've purchased the item. But if you know in advance, you can reprice the shipping on the item to $0 and mark it as reserved for that buyer. Then when they buy it the price will be adjusted just for them.

I cannot thank you enough for this post. I have such trouble trying to figure out what to charge for postage. Most of the things I sell right now are fairly light, mostly because I've been discouraged by trying to guess what the postage should be on larger items. Thank you again! I really enjoy your blog.

This is a great topic! I’m an Etsy seller, and I really wish that Etsy would introduce a shipping calculator in the same style as Ebay. It allows buyers/sellers to determine a rate based on weight and actual location – no guessing involved. The buyer can calculate shipping by simply entering their zip, and a price breakdown of the shipping methods used by the seller is shown. No need to contact the seller for shipping. It really is an invaluable tool.
